Varonica Ford is a NJ based cosmetologist, who discovered her passion for doing hair at the age of 5, in her hometown of Brooklyn New York. At the age of 10, Varonica was taken under the wing by celebrity hair stylist, the late Jackie Cooper. She was introduced to extension braiding, weaving, fusion and interlock (crochet). While in high school, Varonica attended a vocational cosmetology program while working as a junior stylist at a Unisex Salon (Steve’s).
Due to life taking its course, Varonica was unable to finish her studies to obtain her NY cosmetology license. With her new role as a mother, Varonica obtain corporate employment but continued to service her existing clientele.
As time went on, Varonica continued to be passionate about the hair industry. She expressed herself through her own personal style with beautiful colors, and hair cuts that she would do herself.
With being responsible for a family, Varonica faced many hardships that directed her attention away from her passion. Even with satisfactory employment, a degree in business and a successful shoe company owned and operated by Varonica, there was very little fulfillment professionally.
Varonica prayed. She asked God what was her purpose and to reveal to her what she was supposed to do. After praying, she read a facebook post from a friend about his step out on faith, which inspired her. That same day, a woman rang Varonica’s doorbell and stated, the city had funds for their residents to go back to school. Varonica inquired and shortly after, enrolled into Empire, The Hair Design School in March, 2015.
Since graduating, Varonica has received her New Jersey cosmetology license. Leaving behind her position in corporate America to pursue her career in the beauty industry.
Varonica takes pride in educating her clients on healthy hair care. Varonica specializes in hair cutting, hair coloring, silk wraps, custom units and extensions. She continues her education by attending trade show and classes to keep up with the latest styles and trends.
Varonica is currently building her own platform as the creator of the Elite Class Project which is another outlet of continuing education for professional hairstylist, barbers and makeup artist. Through her trials and tribulations, Varonica believes the best step one can make is to step out on faith.
